George is a "Blue Tabby / White" Maine Coon (colours are important of course). He lives in his hammock, somewhere near the ceiling and looks down on the world - where you may occasionally find his big sister 'meeeek'. Er... she's a sort of red, white and blue "torbie", by the way.
Also way down there you will sometimes find a feed bowl and a two legged tin opener. Read on and enjoy.
Why they are called as they are will become apparent as you follow their antics...
Oh by the way - if you're like me, you might ask what the dickens is "Torbie"? It seems to be cat breeder speak for a cross between tortoiseshell and tabby. As for Meeek's red, white and blue colours, you ought to read a sort of pale ginger, white and grey sort of mix.
Why? Because when they first appeared in Maine, the locals thought they were a new breed of (rac)Coon. Probably a mix between house and wildcat more like as not. But they are BIG cats...
George is currently weighing in at around five to six pounds, Meeeeeek is nearer twelve.
What is a Maine Coon? Anything up to around twenty pounds of furry wallpaper stripper! They're also good for taking the laundry down from the drying frame, chasing toilet roll cores around the house and doing silly catty things with the fluff bunnies that live under the sofa.
And yes... it is M-A-I-N-E with an E and not without, although you could say they are the main cats! Maine is a teensy little bit of countryside at the top right of America.
